about

An homage to the mythical south of the US. It starts with the intro to Old Man River, seques to Shenendoah, then to Ashokan Farewell, a bit of Dixie and ends with Old Man River. Ashokan Farewell was composed by Jay Ungar in 1982, and used for the Ken Burns Civil War documentary.

lyrics

There's an old man called the Mississippi
That's the old man that I'd like to be
What does he care if the world's got troubles
What does he care if the land ain't free

Oh, Shenandoah, I long to hear you
Look away, you rollin' river
Oh, Shenandoah, I long to hear you
Away, we're bound away
Across the wide Missouri.
